Moving a boiler to a different room: what it costs

The boiler is the cheap part of a move — the four routes that follow it are where the cost lives.

Why there is no fixed price for a move

When a boiler changes rooms, gas, water, condensate and the flue all have to be re-run to the new position, and the old position made good. Every house routes those four differently, which is why moves are priced at the free survey rather than from the table — the written figure is fixed once we have seen the routes.

The moves we do most

Kitchen-to-loft and kitchen-to-utility. Both free up kitchen space; the loft move also tucks the boiler out of sight and earshot. The survey checks the practical points — flue routing and the condensate run are usually the deciding factors.

Timing

Budget two days, the same as a conversion — day one for the routes and the heavy work, day two for completion, commissioning and handover.

Everything else stays standard

A moved boiler is still a complete job: flue, wireless thermostat, magnetic filter, cleanse and inhibitor, Building Regulations notification and a registered manufacturer warranty — the same inclusions list as every other installation on this site.

Common questions

Can any boiler go in the loft?

The survey decides — flue routing, condensate and access are the practical tests. Kitchen-to-loft is one of the two moves we do most, so the answer is often yes.

Is moving the boiler worth the extra cost?

If the kitchen space or the noise matters to you, often yes — but it is a judgement call, and the survey gives you the exact figure to judge with before anything is committed.
